Suspend mass gatherings, go back to working from home, Duque urges public

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III has pleaded to the public to refrain from attending mass gatherings as these may contribute to more COVID-19 transmissions amidst a sharp increase in cases.

He added that offices must again adopt alternative arrangements like having employees work from home again to limit interactions with each other.

The suggestions come after the Department of Health (DOH) saw a record spike in cases brought about by public mobility during the holiday season. He said that the sharp rise was caused by social gatherings the previous month, and this contributed to the jump in cases.

He also urged people to get vaccinated and get boosted because of the Omicron variant.
