Health workers remain to have free access to transportation across the country, with over 2.1 million free rides provided through a partnership between the government and the private sector.
In a Facebook post, the Department of Transportation said its free ride for health workers program has provided over 584,000 free rides around the National Capital Region and 1.6 million in the rest of the country.
As of March 16, a total of 60 vehicles have been deployed to provide free transportation in several routes available at covid19.sakay.ph and the mobile application, Sakay.ph.
The department said, “(The DOTr is working with the Petron Corporation in the program which provides fuel subsidy to transport companies that are part of the initiative).”
Health workers still have toll-free access to all Luzon expressways.
The initiative was made possible through a partnership between government and several private entities.
