As of 6 p.m. on March 24, there were over 124 million coronavirus cases globally, with the death toll reaching 2.7 million, according to John Hopkins University. The good news is that there are over 100 million recoveries.

The United States is leading the world in both COVID-19 infections and fatalities, with over 30 million confirmed cases and over 556,000 deaths.

Russian President Vladimir Putin received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine on Tuesday.

AstraZeneca said it will engage with the independent panel of the U.S. trial of its vaccine and release further data “within 48 hours” after a U.S. regulator said the drugmaker included out-of-date drug data in the information provided during the U.S. trials.

Germany is extending its current COVID-19 lockdown through to April 18. The country will enter an even stricter lockdown over the Easter holidays from April 1 to 5.
