New Year greetings from China’s President Xi Jinping

China’s President Xi Jinping extended New Year wishes to all.

2020 was an extraordinary year. Facing the coronavirus pandemic, China put people first to interpret the great love among humans. He hailed frontliners who were the true heroes that got the country through the COVID-19 health crisis.

He reported China’s 13th Five-Year Plan has been accomplished in full and that the country is the first major economy to achieve positive growth. Its 2020 GDP is expected to step up to a new level of 100 trillion yuan.

China had many scientific breakthroughs like the Tianwen-1 (Mars mission), Chang’e-5 (lunar probe), and Fendouzhe (deep-sea manned submersible).

It also eradicated extreme poverty for the nearly 100 million rural people affected, and all the 832 impoverished counties have shaken off poverty.

He shared that 2021 will see the 100th birthday of the Communist Party of China, and its 100-year journey surges forward with great momentum.
