Several cash lanes of the North Luzon Expressway will be reopened to improve the traffic situation at the NLEX toll plazas, an official said.
Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. chief communications officer Romulo Quimbo said, “We will bring back cash lanes, but not all over of course…We need to help the motorists.”
He said the cash lanes will be reopened in big toll plazas such as in Balintawak, Caloocan and Bocaue, Bulacan.
He added, “We were also informed that this is also what the Office of the President wants and the MMDA.”
Quimbo shared the reopening of the cash lanes will only be for the NLEX system for now and will not include other expressways they operate.
Quimbo said the reopening of cash lanes is part of the operational improvements that NLEX will undertake to address traffic concerns following the implementation of the 100 percent cashless collection scheme in expressways this month, as ordered by the Department of Transportation.
