6,286 PUV Drivers Sign Subsidy Contracts With LTFRB

A total of 6,286 drivers of public utility vehicles joined the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board’s Service Contracting Program last week.

The LTFRB said this includes drivers of both traditional and modern public utility jeepneys who took part in the five-day general registration and orientation activity of the program at the Quezon City Memorial Circle.

It added, “(These drivers were given an orientation by the LTFRB and the Systems Manager to help them understand the scope of the [program].)”

After going through orientation, the drivers submitted indemnity forms and signed their contract with the LTFRB.

The program is funded through the “Bayanihan to Recover as One” Act. Under the program, drivers or operators will receive 11 pesos per kilometer while bus drivers or operators will receive 23 pesos per kilometer, in addition to performance-based incentives and demerits, disbursed weekly through the Land Bank of the Philippines.
