QC Eyes Renting Hotel to Accommodate Suspected COVID-19 Cases

The local government of Quezon City plans to rent a hotel to accommodate more suspected COVID-19 cases should the situation worsen.

Mayor Joy Belmonte shared the lack of accommodation for persons under investigation and COVID positive individuals is one of the problems the city will be facing in the days ahead.

Belmonte added they are currently negotiating with a hotel in the city to rent the establishment since it is experiencing low occupancy. This is where PUIs with mild coronavirus cases will be housed with health personnel so the hospitals will be freed up for COVID positive patients.

Barangays also have available space in their community centers which can be used as quarantine zones. New city buildings which have not yet been used can also be converted into temporary quarantine areas.

Quezon City has been under a state of calamity since Friday after recording seven cases of COVID-19. The number went up to 12 on Saturday.
