Skateboarder Margielyn Didal has officially clinched a spot to the Olympic Games in Tokyo this July.
The 22-year-old Didal was part of the 20 names released on Thursday, June 10, by the World Skates – the governing body of the sport – who will comprise the women’s street division field in Tokyo with competition scheduled for July 25 and 26.
The Cebu City native rose to fame when she competed in the X Games Minneapolis 2018 in the United States and won a gold medal in the 2018 Asian Games.
Jericho Francisco Jr., who campaigned in the men’s park, did not make it.
Meanwhile, the Philippines failed to earn an extra slot in judo following an early exit by Kiyomi Watanabe in the women’s under 63-kilogram class of the recently concluded World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
The 24-year-old Filipino-Japanese drew an opening-round bye but she ran into Brazilian Alexia Castilhos in the second round and was shown the door.
