A regional COVID-19 vaccination site has been launched in the Middle East city of Dubai for Chinese nationals under China’s “Spring Sprout” campaign which aims to help Chinese people living in other countries get vaccinated.
The site was jointly launched by the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Chinese Embassy in the UAE based on an agreement reached in March.
Chinese nationals over the age of 16 with a short-term visa without UAE residency will be provided with two doses of China’s Sinopharm vaccine, which the World Health Organization approved for emergency use in early May.
China and the UAE have been cooperating closely in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, sharing expertise, resources and technologies.
A new factory in Abu Dhabi will start manufacturing COVID-19 vaccines from Chinese pharmaceutical giant Sinopharm later this year.
