Cavitex-Sangley Link Road to Start Construction

THE Department of Public Works and Highways said it will start constructing the “coastal” spur road to Cavite province’s Sangley Airport by the second quarter of the year.

Public Works Secretary Mark Villar said it was included in the 2020 national budget. He added the spur road, which will cost about 250 million pesos, will be built “along the coast leading to Sangley.”

The government inaugurated its 486-million-peso Sangley Airport development project last month.

The airport will be expanded by Lucio Tan’s MacroAsia Corporation and its Chinese partner China Communications Construction Company.

The consortium will have to buy Sangley Airport from the government before it can start working on the first phase of the project which costs 4 billion dollars. It includes the construction of the Sangley connector road and bridge to connect the Kawit segment of the Manila-Cavite Expressway to the international airport.
