NCOV UPDATE 3/7

As of 5 p.m. on March 7, there were over 117 million coronavirus cases globally, with the death toll reaching 2.6 million, according to John Hopkins University. The good news is that there are over 92 million recoveries.

The United States is leading the world in both COVID-19 infections and fatalities, with over 29 million confirmed cases and over 537,000 deaths.

COVAX, the international vaccine campaign co-led by the World Health Organization and its partners, has delivered over 20 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to 20 countries.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a road map for lifting lockdown measures that sees schools open first, followed in later stages by the gradual easing of restrictions on mixing with other people and the reopening of non-essential shops and other venues.

Japan extended the state of emergency over the coronavirus in Tokyo and three neighboring prefectures to March 21.
