Jewish Groups Condemn Racism against Chinese over COVID-19

Seventy-four Jewish groups in the United States signed a joint open letter, condemning anti-Chinese sentiments amid the spread of the new coronavirus outbreak.

The letter, organized by the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, wrote Jews are “concerned about rising xenophobia aimed at Chinese people in this country and abroad.” And it is important that the Jewish community express their solidarity and support for their Chinese-American friends.

Hundreds of Asian-American leaders and organizations, including America China Public Affairs Institute, OCA-Asian Pacific Advocates and United Chinese Americans, received the letter.

There have been 53 confirmed U.S. cases of COVID-19 so far – 14 in the United States and 39 among Americans repatriated from the outbreak’s epicenter of Wuhan, China, and from the Diamond Princess cruise ship quarantined in Japan.
