COVID-19: Here’s What We Know So Far

A pneumonia outbreak was first reported in the city of Wuhan in central China’s Hubei province in December 2019. Experts have attributed the outbreak to a novel coronavirus that has since spread across China and the rest of the world.

As of 11 p.m. on February 26, there are over 78,000 confirmed cases in China and 3,000 abroad. There have also been 2,718 deaths in China and 51 abroad.

It has also been reported that 29,775 individuals have recovered from the virus, however, health experts have warned of the risk of reinfection for the recovered.

Human-to-human transmission of the coronavirus has also been confirmed.

Level 1 emergency response has been activated in 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities on the Chinese mainland.
