NCOV UPDATE 2/3

As of 5 p.m. on February 3, there were over 103 million coronavirus cases globally, with the death toll reaching over 2.2 million, according to John Hopkins University. The good news is that there are over 76 million recoveries.

The United States is leading the world in both COVID-19 infections and fatalities, with over 27 million confirmed cases and over 456,000 deaths. More than 100,000 people have died of COVID-19 in the U.S. in just over a month since the beginning of 2021.

China will contribute 10 million doses of coronavirus vaccines under the COVID-19 Vaccine Global Access Facility, Wang Wenbin, China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, said.

Mexico’s health regulator approved the emergency use of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine. The approval came shortly after scientists gave the vaccine the green light, saying it was almost 92 percent effective in fighting COVID-19 based on peer-reviewed late-stage trial results published in The Lancet.
