NCOV UPDATE 1/27

As of 2 p.m. on January 27, there were over 100 million coronavirus cases globally, with the death toll reaching over two million, according to John Hopkins University. The good news is that there are over 65 million recoveries.

The United States is leading the world in both COVID-19 infections and fatalities, with over 25 million confirmed cases and over 424,000 deaths.

The U.S. government is buying an additional 200 million vaccine doses and will have enough to inoculate 300 million Americans by the end of summer or early fall, President Joe Biden said.

The UK’s COVID-19 death toll exceeded 100,000 and Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he took “full responsibility” for the government’s response to the pandemic.

The EU and AstraZeneca are locked in a row over vaccine deliveries after the drugmaker announced it couldn’t meet its promised supply targets for the bloc for the beginning of the year.
