As the economic slump resulting from COVID-19 leaves millions of Filipinos unemployed, the Department of Labor and Employment is banking on the “whole-of-government approach” to engage the country’s labor force to rev up the economy.
DOLE Assistant Secretary Dominique Tutay said the government is preparing a three-year National Employment Recovery Strategy this year, serving as the “blueprint” for decent employment and entrepreneurship in the “new normal.”
Tutay pointed out the recovery plan is done in coordination with various concerned agencies.
According to her, the action plan has four components: “(First, economic activities… Second is the restoration of business confidence, consumer protection and a reboot package…Third is the upgrading of workforce through skills training as well keeping the workforce tech savvy…Lastly, the recovery plan includes labor market access facilitation such as the conduct of career or job fairs.)”
