NCOV UPDATE 1/16

As of 5 p.m. on January 16, there were over 94 million coronavirus cases globally, with the death toll reaching over two million, according to John Hopkins University. The good news is that there are over 61 million recoveries.

The United States is leading the world in both COVID-19 infections and fatalities, with over 24 million confirmed cases and over 405,000 deaths.

Los Angeles has become the first county in America to report over one million COVID-19 cases, according to state health officials. U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned that a new coronavirus variant first identified in the UK could become the dominant strain in the U.S. by March.

The UK will close all travel corridors from Monday, meaning everyone arriving in the country will have to self-isolate.

An international expert team from the World Health Organization is now in central China’s Wuhan to conduct joint research with Chinese scientists.
