China’s 5G smartphone shipments reached an impressive 144 million in the first 11 months of this year, accounting for more than 51 percent of total phone shipments, according to data from the country’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
The Chinese mobile phone market saw the entry of 199 new 5G models between the months of January and November, accounting for 48 percent of new handset sales, as reported by ministry spokesperson Wen Ku at a press conference in Beijing.
He added that the number of 5G users has also been growing rapidly, with more than 200 million devices connected to 5G mobile phone networks.
China has more than 580,000 newly built 5G mobile base stations this year, bringing the total number to over 700,000 which is an amazing achievement.
The country has now been able to achieve the goal of providing 5G networks to all chartered municipal cities across the nation.
