A jobless bus driver wanted for the rape and murder of a 14-year-old girl in Caloocan City was arrested in Dau, Pampanga last Thursday night.
Diomedes Llames, 38, was about to meet his wife to say goodbye at a gasoline station in Mabalacat when he was arrested by a team of intelligence officers led by Captain John David Chua at around 11 p.m., according to an initial report from the Caloocan police.
Chua had earlier convinced Llames’ wife to arrange for her husband’s surrender. Llames told police he was planning to join the New People’s Army in Tarlac.
Lieutenant Colonel Ilustre Mendoza, assistant city police chief, said Llames admitted to killing the girl in a fit of rage but said he did not rape her.
The victim’s mother told police she spotted Llames leaving her house with blood on his shirt on the night of July 14 before she saw her daughter hogtied on the bed and clad only in her underwear. She died from stab wounds in the neck.
