Makati Courts Closed After Fiscal Gets Exposed to Virus

Trial courts in Makati and the city prosecutor’s office have been closed for disinfection after a fiscal was reportedly exposed to a family member infected with COVID-19.

In a memorandum issued on Wednesday, Makati Metropolitan Trial Court Executive Judge Jackie Saguisag ordered employees with direct contact with the prosecutor who attended a court hearing last week to undergo self-quarantine for 14 days.

Saguisag instructed court employees under quarantine to inform her once they develop symptoms of the virus. She said personnel of the court branch visited by the prosecutor were directed to do contact tracing.

Saguisag also requested the city government to disinfect the courts, which are located from the 10th to the 15th floors of the Makati City Hall building.

In a separate order, Senior Assistant State Prosecutor Roberto Lao, officer-in-charge of the city prosecutor’s office, advised all prosecutors and their staff to work from home.
