589 Individuals Stranded at NAIA Get Help

Nearly 600 individuals who were stranded at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport received help from the Pasay City government and the Philippine Army.

Mayor Emi Rubiano said that 461 persons who have been staying under the NAIA Expressway were transferred to the Villamor Air Base Elementary School and the Philippine State College of Aeronautics.

Individuals who wanted to go home to the provinces started to flock to the airport on June 1, when the lockdown in Metro Manila was eased to general community quarantine.

They were forced to stay under the expressway after some airlines cancelled their flights.

The Philippine Army has provided temporary accommodations for 128 stranded individuals at its Wellness Center.

Lt. Gen. Gilbert Gabay said these individuals were given shelter and other basic necessities until their flights become available.

He said the stranded individuals were made to undergo rapid testing.
