Bela Padilla announced on Wednesday, March 18 that her crowdfunding effort for street vendors has raised 3.3 million pesos.
The 28-year-old Kapamilya actress shared on Twitter that her target of one million pesos had been reached. This morning, she shared that a donation of 2.2 million pesos had come in, bringing the total donations to 3.3 million pesos in just two days.
Padilla opened a GoGetFunding page on Monday, March 16, after expressing concern for the welfare of street vendors—such as those who sell taho and banana cue—whose income would be hit by the enhanced community quarantine in Metro Manila.
Although the fundraising effort was meant to last for a few weeks, she closed the page at midnight of March 18 after hitting the one-million-peso target. It closed with 1.37 million pesos in donations.
Padilla is part of ABS-CBN’s “Ang Probinsyano” and starred in “Miracle in Cell No. 7” during the 2019 Metro Manila Film Festival.
