NCOV UPDATE 9/8

As of 6 p.m. on September 8, there were over 222 million coronavirus cases globally, with the death toll reaching 4.6 million, according to John Hopkins University. The good news is that there are over 199 million recoveries.

The United States is leading the world in both COVID-19 infections and fatalities, with over 41 million confirmed cases and some 669,000 deaths.

Over 969 million in China, or 69 percent of the country’s population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Monday, according to data from the National Health Commission.

A total of 174 countries, territories or areas have reported cases of the Delta variant, according to a World Health Organization weekly epidemiological update on COVID-19 published Tuesday.

Italy is inching closer to achieving herd immunity, according to Italy’s pandemic commissioner. Italy’s Health Minister says the country will begin giving a third dose to the most vulnerable sections.
