NCOV UPDATE 7/7

As of 6 p.m. on July 7, there were over 185 million coronavirus cases globally, with the death toll reaching 4.0 million, according to John Hopkins University. The good news is that there are over 169 million recoveries.

The United States is leading the world in both COVID-19 infections and fatalities, with over 34 million confirmed cases and some 621,000 deaths.

Mexico is experiencing a third wave of COVID-19, though hospitalizations and fatalities are not rising at the same speed, the Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion said.

Indonesia said it was importing emergency oxygen from neighboring Singapore as hospitals crumbled under the weight of COVID-19, while the Delta variant wrought havoc around the globe.

The Olympic torch relay has been scrapped on Tokyo’s public roads, officials said Wednesday, as virus concerns continue to plague the Games just over two weeks before they begin.
