The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency destroyed 1.2 billion pesos worth of illegal drugs on June 23.
Some 912 kilos of dangerous drugs, including shabu, toluene, marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy and expired medicine, were destroyed through thermal decomposition at the Integrated Waste Management in Barangay Aguado in Trece Martires, Cavite.
PDEA Director General Wilkins Villanueva lauded various regional trial courts for the expeditious prosecution and disposition of drug cases that led to the prompt destruction of illegal drugs which are no longer needed as evidence in court.
The destruction of the confiscated dangerous drugs is in compliance with the guidelines on the custody and disposition under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and Dangerous Drugs Board regulations.
PDEA will destroy another 786 kilos of illegal drugs in August, including the 117 kilos of shabu worth 796 million pesos.
