NCOV UPDATE 6/23

As of 5 p.m. on June 23, there were over 180 million coronavirus cases globally, with the death toll reaching 3.9 million, according to John Hopkins University. The good news is that there are over 164 million recoveries.

The United States is leading the world in both COVID-19 infections and fatalities, with over 34 million confirmed cases and over 617,000 deaths.

India’s COVID-19 tally crossed the 30-million mark, with almost 51,000 new cases reported in 24 hours, according to the country’s health ministry.

The Delta virus variant first seen in India has now spread to 92 countries, according to the World Health Organization. The number of cases related to the Delta Plus virus variant in India has increased to 40, officials said.

Eight members of the Ugandan Olympic team have been quarantined until early July, after a coach tested positive for COVID on arrival in Japan last week, foreign media reported, citing a local official.
