NCOV UPDATE 6/20

As of 5 p.m. on June 20, there were over 179 million coronavirus cases globally, with the death toll reaching 3.8 million, according to John Hopkins University. The good news is that there are over 163 million recoveries.

The United States is leading the world in both COVID-19 infections and fatalities, with over 34 million confirmed cases and over 617,000 deaths.

Brazil crossed the grim threshold of 500,000 coronavirus deaths on Saturday, trailing only the U.S. in lives lost to COVID-19.

Over one billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in China as of Saturday, the National Health Commission said.

Up to 40 countries are unable to provide second doses of COVID-19 vaccines to their populations, especially those expecting vaccines from AstraZeneca, officials of the World Health Organization said.

Canada will extend restrictions that bar non-essential travel at U.S. land borders until at least July 21.
