Upstream strikes deal with Universal Pictures

Following a groundbreaking partnership deal, Filipino streaming platform Upstream.ph will carry Hollywood giant Universal Pictures’ entire 2021 film slate and much more.

Under the deal, such famous blockbuster movie franchises as Jurassic Park, Fast & Furious, Despicable Me, Candyman, Minions, Halloween and Boss Baby will be available to Filipino audiences in the comfort and safety of their homes.

In a virtual presscon, veteran producer and Upstream executive Dondon Monteverde said that they felt honored to be the “first and only Filipino portal” to be trusted by Universal Pictures to stream popular old and current titles from their extensive catalogue.

Monteverde added, “We’re grateful that they saw our platform as fit to showcase their movies.”

It was Upstream that first approached Universal Pictures about a possible partnership in light of still-shuttered movie houses across the country due to lockdowns.
