Inspect leisure facilities, barangay captains told

The Department of the Interior and Local Government has ordered barangay captains to conduct regular inspections of sports, recreation and leisure facilities due to the continuous violation of quarantine and health protocols during the pandemic.

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said among these places are parks, gymnasiums, resorts and track ovals that should be inspected regularly, especially during weekends and public holidays.

He said in a memorandum circular dated May 31, “Ensure that social distancing is being maintained at all times in coordination with the city or municipality.”

The DILG chief also instructed barangay captains to coordinate with Philippine National Police and Bureau of Fire Protection personnel in their areas for the implementation of guidelines set by the national government.

Barangays should conduct regular health patrols to enforce surveillance, monitoring and reporting of public gatherings.
