Flag carrier Philippine Airlines on June 6 carried the country’s first okra shipment to Korea.
PAL transported 1,800 kilograms of okra as cargo shipment through a Manila to Incheon flight.
The airline said the cargo flight, which was a milestone for the Philippine agri-business sector, reflects the business opportunities that new markets like Korea can provide to local farmers and export sectors.
PAL said, “Okra used to be exported to Japan and now, the Philippines has expanded exportation to Korea.”In September last year, the country sent the first batch of okra export to Japan.
Meanwhile, budget carrier Cebu Pacific carried on the same day another batch of one million COVID-19 vaccine doses from Beijing to Manila.
Upon arrival in Manila, all vaccines were inspected by authorities prior to transfer to cold storage vans and facilities.
Cebu Pacific also transported 51,800 COVID-19 vaccine doses to five provinces over the first week of June.
