Gov’t accelerates digitalization of services

The Duterte administration has accelerated the use of digital technology for government services to improve transactions in public offices, according to Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez.

At the Sulong Pilipinas virtual forum, Lopez shared government agencies’ digitalization efforts are aligned with President Duterte’s directive to ease queuing in public offices by making government services available online.

He said that among the key legislation is the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Delivery of Government Service Act of 2018, which aims to stop too much bureaucracy in government offices.

Last January, the Department of Information and Communications Technology and the Anti-Red Tape Authority launched the first phase of the Central Business Portal, a platform where citizens and business owners can access forms and requirements necessary for business registration.
