Free Pasig River Ferry Service Extended Until March 31

Commuters can avail themselves of free rides on the Pasig River ferry service until the end of March, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.

The free rides were supposed to end on February 29, but the MMDA extended it until March 31 to entice more patrons. The ferry service caters to up to 1,000 passengers daily.

MMDA Chairman Danilo Lim said he was happy to hear that people are enjoying the ferry rides going to their destinations. Commuting by ferry is slowly becoming a way life for Metro Manila residents, which is why the agency extended the free rides.

More commuters are using the ferry service to avoid traffic congestion in the metropolis, Lim said.

The Pasig River ferry service was relaunched in December last year. The MMDA said it is eyeing to build three more ferry stations: Quinta Market in Manila, Ayala Circuit in Makati and Kalawaan in Pasig.
