Thousands of Test Kits, Masks from China Arrive in PH

China’s donation of tens of thousands of surgical masks, personal protective equipment and test kits to tackle COVID-19 arrived in the country early Saturday morning, the Chinese Embassy in Manila said.

The aid package includes one hundred thousand coronavirus test kits, one hundred thousand surgical masks, ten thousand N95 masks and ten thousand sets of personal protective equipment, the embassy said in a tweet.

Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian welcomed the arrival of the much needed donation of medical supplies at Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport, along with Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr.

The Chinese donation came just as the Philippine government sought to boost its supply of test kits, masks and protective equipment amid the increasing cases of the novel coronavirus disease, which first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019.
