Local retailers remain optimistic for the industry’s recovery despite new variants of COVID-19 posing a threat to the economy.
Roberto S. Claudio, the vice-chairman of the Philippine Retailers Association (PRA) said the group is expecting sales to remain positive as long as the strictest form of lockdown is not implemented to curb infections.
Currently, Metro Manila is under Alert Level 3 until the end of the month because of the spike in cases that is believed to have been caused by the Omicron variant.
Supermarket operators also remain optimistic regarding their sales outlook. In a message by Steven T. Cua, the president of the Philippine Amalgamated Supermarkets Association (PAGASA) said that they can see a more positive outlook this year.
